Surrounded by vast untouched plains, Monelieschke is adjacent to Ottoshoop, where several of South Africa’s most coveted exotic game species can be found.
Harry Rossouw, founder of Monelieschke and entrepreneur extraordinaire, together with his brother, Jack, Estate Manager, are a decidedly passionate duo with aims to breed South Africa’s top bloodline. Together, the Rossouw brothers make a formidable duo. Harry being the business mogul with a keen eye for opportunity is the driving force behind the investment potential of the game farm and brand possibilities for the Artesian Water. While Jack provides the hands-on momentum (with a penchant for game breeding) which ensures that it all happens.
Surrounded by vast untouched plains, Monelieschke is adjacent to Ottoshoop. Steeped in history as the location of the first South African gold rush and 1800’s settlers, Monelieschke is home to several of South Africa’s most coveted exotic game species – with bloodlines sourced from the country’s most prominent breeders.
Monelieschke spans three farms: Doornplaat (1076ha), Stinkhoutboom (1000ha), and Welbedacht (880ha). We have been in the game breeding industry for 14 years, and intensive breeding for 4 years. The Rossouws grew up on a farm, and bought their first farm in 1993. We farm with 14 game species. We employ 21 people, and supply the local community with water. On an ongoing basis, we train locals with the skills of game farming and operating a water bottling plant.
Our philosophy about game breeding is: it’s a hobby with long term growth potential and the vision to improve genetics and bloodline on an ongoing basis. Sourced only from breeders who have exceptional pedigrees themselves, the stock at Monelieschke is testament to Harry Rossouw’s passion for the extraordinary. No expense has been spared to create paddocks that make use of the best grazing in the North West Province. Neighbouring farms have also been obtained to grow the supplementary nutrients that keep the game in peak condition.
